Kurdish Referendum, September 2017

 

 

 

Note: On 25 September 2017, the Kurdistan Regional Government based in Irbil conducted a referendum in which over 92 per cent of the voted in favor of Kurdish independence. This was contested by the central government in Baghdad and was overruled by the Iraqi Supreme Court on 6 November. The details of the referendum are reproduced here. Editor MEI@ND
