Egypt signs agreement to join International Solar Alliance

Cairo, Sunday, 11 March 2018

Egypt’s Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker signed a framework agreement on Saturday with the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in the presence of the Ambassador of India in Cairo Sanjay Bhattacharyya. Shaker said that Egypt will become a founding member of ISA because of its numerous sources of renewable energy, especially solar. 4 years after they went missing, Government confirms 39 Indians killed in Iraq by IS

India and Jordan decided to step up defence cooperation to combat terror and prevent cyber security crimes as Prime Minister Modi and Jordanian King Abdullah II held talks on key strategic issues. The two sides signed 12 agreements in a wide range of areas including defence, health and medicine, setting up of the next generation Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Jordan, long term supply of rock phosphate and fertiliser and setting up of a Hindi Chair at the Jordan University. Saudi Arabia will no longer confiscate passports of Indian airline crew members on arrival

The government of Saudi Arabia has decided to stop retaining the passports of crew members of Indian airlines on arrival. They would be given a barcode with limited validity. Air India makes history by flying to Israel via Saudi airspace

‘India by the Nile’ festival to start in Egypt from March 6

The 12-day event, the biggest foreign festival in Egypt, will host a wide range of events and starts on March 6. ‘Bring back India’s Nassak diamond from Lebanon’

A trustee of the Trimbakeshwar Devasthan Trust near Nashik here has approached the National Archives of India (NAI), seeking to bring back the blue Nassak diamond, which once reportedly graced the crown of Lord Shiva idol at the famous Trimbakeshwar temple. Lalita Shinde, trustee, said the diamond, which was allegedly looted by several rulers, is presently kept at a private museum in Lebanon. Source: The Hindu
