IRAN

India extends relief assistance to Iran after recent floods, Tehran, 17 April 2019

In line with Government of India’s commitment to offer relief and humanitarian assistance that may be required for the friendly people of Iran affected from recent floods, today, an Indian air freighter reached Tehran carrying an 18-tonne cargo of relief material.

The relief material comprised of essentials like blankets, plastic sheets, de-hydrated and canned food items, and family tents, among others. The next consignment of relief material is scheduled to reach Iran via waterways shortly.Source:Embassy of India, Tehran.

Statement of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on the announcement by US to discontinue the Significant Reduction Exemption to all purchases of crude oil from Iran, New Delhi, 26 April 2019

“The Government of India has put in place a robust plan to ensure that there is adequate supply of crude oil to Indian oil refineries from May 2019 onwards. There will be additional supplies from other major oil producing countries from different parts of the world. The Indian refineries are fully prepared without any problem to meet the national demand for petrol, diesel and other petroleum products in the country.”Source:Press Information Bureau (PIB).

KUWAIT

Vibrant Goa Roadshow, Kuwait, 30 April 2019

A delegation comprising of representatives from the Vibrant Goa Foundation and Goan Business Community visited Kuwait from April 20 - 22, 2019, and conducted a Roadshow for the Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit (VG-GES) 2019 at the premises of the Embassy of India, Kuwait on April 22, 2019. The Roadshow was attended by several businessmen from Kuwait representing sectors such as Food and Food Products, Travel & Tourism and Building Materials & Construction etc.

The business delegation, led by Mr. Anmol Modi, Senior Manager, Vibrant Goa Foundation, gave a detailed presentation on various aspects of the upcoming Vibrant Goa Summit and extended an invitation to the Kuwaiti businessmen to participate in the business summit. OMAN

Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019, Muscat, 16 April 2019.

Embassy of India, Muscat, as part of its endeavour to promote trade and economic relations between India and Oman, organized a Business Meet at its premises on 15 April 2019. The focus of the Business Meet was to promote Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019 to be held in the Indian State of Goa from 17 to 19 October 2019 as well as to apprise visiting Indian companies of the opportunities of investments in Oman specially in Mining sector as the event coincided with Oman Mining Expo 2019, being held in Muscat. The Business Meet was attended by approximately 140 guests including senior representatives of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Public Authority for Mining, Minerals Development Oman, Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry as well as by Indian and Omani businessmen.

Sh. MunuMahawar, Ambassador of India to Sultanate of Oman in his welcome remarks referred to the ever-increasing trade between India and Oman, and invited Omani businessmen to attend Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019.

H.E. Mr. Hilal Al Busaidi, CEO, Public Authority for Mining who was the Chief Guest on this occasion, in his address refereed to the historical relations between both countries and stressed on the immense potential for further cooperation in mining sector. He also stated that mining is a focus area for Oman’s development with attention to environment. He also stated that India's experience in mining was also useful in developing Oman' Mining Strategy.

H.E. Mr, Mardes Bin Abdullah Al Harthy, Advisor in Ministry of Commerce & Industry was the Guest of Honour at the Business Meet. Mr. Nasser Saif Al Maqbali, CEO, Mineral Development Oman gave a presentation on mining opportunities in Oman. Representatives of SEZAD and ITHRAA also made presentations and invited Indian businessmen to benefit from the opportunities available in Oman.

On this occasion, representative from Vibrant Goa showed a video on the State of Goa, followed by a presentation on the business potential of the State, enumerating sectors such as Pharmaceutical, Tourism, Startup, Education etc and invited Omani businessmen to attend the Vibrant Goa Global Expo and Summit 2019 and to enjoy the hospitality of Goa as well as to know more about the opportunities available.Source: Embassy of India, Muscat.

TURKEY

Visit of the Deputy Chairman of the Foreign and Security Council of Turkey to India, New Delhi, 26 April 2019.

Dr. Ibrahim Kalin, Senior Advisor and Spokesperson of the President of Turkey and Deputy Chairman of the Foreign and Security Council of Turkey visited India at the invitation of the National Security Advisor, Shri AjitDoval, and held talks with him on 25 April 2019.

The dialogue reflects the positive momentum that characterises India-Turkey relations in recent years, particularly after the State visit of the President of Turkey, H.E. Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan to India in April-May 2017.

The talks covered the whole range of bilateral issues and resulted in identification of specific steps to further expand relations in all areas, including political, security, economic, scientific and cultural. The sides welcomed the growth in bilateral trade to the level of US $ 8.6 billion currently, and discussed proposals to raise the level to much higher levels. Investment opportunities in specific sectors such as tourism, smart cities, construction, infrastructure and IT were also explored.

The two sides held a detailed exchange of views on global and regional issues, including those relating to South Asia and West Asia. They agreed to further strengthen their cooperation in various multilateral organisations, including the United Nations.

They agreed that as two ancient civilisations and modern thriving democracies, they have enough in common to cooperate with each other to harness opportunities emerging from their respective growth trajectories, as well as to address contemporary threats and challenges, especially those emanating from international and cross-border terrorism. In the light of the recent terrorist Statement of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on the announcement by US to discontinue the Significant Reduction Exemption to all purchases of crude oil from Iran to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations and to bring the perpetrators and sponsors of terrorist attacks to justice. UAE

His Excellency Sheikh NahayanMabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance visited the India Pavilion at ADIBF, Abu Dhabi, 29 April 2019.

India is the Guest of Honour at the ongoing 29th edition of Abu Dhabi International Book Fair at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).His Excellency Sheikh NahayanMabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Tolerance visited the India Pavilion on 28th April 2019. He was welcomed by Ambassador of India to UAE Mr, Navdeep Suri and National Book Trust of India, Chairman, Govind Prasad Sharma.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahayan toured the Pavilion and interacted with the Indian publishers and authors. He also witnessed the special installation showcasing Gandhi as a writer and a publisher. He was also briefed about the efforts undertaken to strengthen cultural exchange by NBT undertaking translation of   10 children books in Arabic language.  Similarly, DCT has done publication in Hindi language.

The India Pavilion at the Book Fair is the largest Pavilion of close to 1100 sqmts that any Guest country has taken at the Book Fair. The Pavilion includes book stalls, entrainment stage area, business lounge, a food corner and meeting rooms.
