Editorial Board Member, JIJS. Joan G. Roland is Professor of History at Pace University in New York City. She holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University and began her studies on the Jews of India over forty years ago. She is the author of Jews in British India: Identity in a Colonial Era (Brandeis / University Press of New England, 1989) published in a second edition as The Jewish Communities of India: Identity in a Colonial Era (Transaction, 1998). She has written numerous articles and book chapters on the Jews of India in India, Israel, and the United States. She is currently working on the reception and representation of the Holocaust in India.
