Through a unanimous resolution adopted on Thursday the Punjab legislative assembly condemned the Egyptian army’s ousting of a democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi and of killing of civilians.

3. JI staged rallies against killing of Egyptian protesters
Peshawar, Saturday, 17 August 2013
On Friday (16 August) Jamaat-e-Islami activists observed a day of protest and held rallies across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to condemn the killing of protesters in Egypt. Such protests were held in Mansehra, Batkhela and Karak.

President Asif Ali Zardari during his meeting with President Hassan Rouhani of Iran discussed bilateral issues and areas of cooperation. They discussed ways to increase physical connectivity between these two countries and emphasized on the early completion of Pakistan Iran gas pipeline.

6. Uncertainty over Iran pipeline project

According to the Pakistani officials, Pakistan is no more interested in using Iran’s loans to finish the pipeline. The foreign office denied suggestions that US had conveyed to Pakistan that the gas pipeline project could invoke sanctions.

8. JI flayed Syrian army for killing innocent people

Syed Munawar Hasan, ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami, condemned Syrian army’s killing thousands of civilians and also the fact that Arab league, OIC and UN Security Council were not taking effective action. He also urged the Government of Pakistan to play a part in stopping violence.

9. Turkish President Greeted Zardari, Mamnoon

President of Turkey Abdullah Gul called President Asif Ali Zardari to congratulate him for successfully overseeing the presidential election and for the peaceful transition of power. 12. Import of transformers from Iran hit snags
