Deliberating the political parties bill, the Lower House overwhelmingly approved a private member amendment moved by Mamdouh Abbadi prohibiting the establishment of political parties on a religious, ethnic, racial or regional basis. This move was primarily seen as an attempt to ban the Islamic Action Front.
