is Associate Professor of History at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Earlier he was with Goa University and Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit at Kalady. He is the author of The Germans, the Portuguese and India (1999) and Portuguese Cochin and the Maritime Trade of India, 1500-1663 and co-editor of four books on themes related to maritime history and Indian Ocean studies.
