was Associate Professor of Religion at Temple University and his areas of interests were Indian philosophy and religion and Indian Buddhism/ he has contributed numerous academic articles and was named a distinguished teacher at Temple University. He was educated at Banaras Hindu University and joined 1972. He also taught at Temple University Japan during 1993-94 and 1996-98 and until his demise in October in 1999, he was a member of the editorial board of JIJS.
